COVID19: Staying Sane While Staying Home During a Pandemic

It is the end of week one, March 22nd 2020, and we have been asked to stay home - only going out for the essentials. This request for some, is like an answer from above. For others it is like being in a hamster wheel after drinking a six pack of Red Bull. Either way, both have their own challenges in dealing with the stress and anxiety of social distancing. Listen in on a recent discussion my friend Rachel and I have about staying positive, staying home, and staying sane.

Here are a few of our tips and tricks, that we are using, for staying sane throughout the quarantine:

  • Create a daily schedule of your to do items for the day (i.e. walking the dog, reading, working out, household tasks)

  • Check items off your bucket list (reading books, learning a language, reorganizing your pantry)

  • Discuss your anxieties and stressors with your friends so they can communicate more effectively with you

  • Self Care - unplug from news, social media, and text messages

  • Connect with others - utilize technology available like Zoom, FaceTime, HouseParty (App Store) to stay connected with friends and family

  • Stay active - leverage online classes like Peloton (free 90 trial), and IG Live (fitness instructors are hosting free classes, AKA me, or for a small fee), personal trainers are hosting online programs and virtual training sessions (check out my trainer B3Fitness for a discounted 12 week program)

  • Fur-iends! Cuddle with your favorite canine or feline or enjoy watching them play outside or on videos

  • Live shows - lots of artists are hosting streamed concerts and comedy sessions (John Mayer, Jimmy Fallon, etc.)

  • Be kind. To yourself and to others.

Tune in with us live on IG TV, Sunday, March 29th, at 1pm EST for a week two check in.
